Roll-out of optical fibre network in rural Italian villages
Problem:An Italian government agency was tasked with providing rural villages with fibre-optic connections. The project was part of the EU-wide roll-out of fibre optic networks and was funded by the European Community Fund. Many of the villages were in remote locations, for example in the mountains, which made rolling out and installing the fibre optic cables difficult.
Solution:EXI's good understanding of the region and its experience in network design were key to reaching the villages despite their isolated location. EXI also benefited from its network of reliable subcontractors, who were able to carry out construction work even in the most difficult terrain.
Result:EXI managed to complete the project on time, sticking to the forecasts and plans for the work. As villages could enjoy the stable high-speed fibre connections, the government agency successfully complied with EU law.
