Consulting on network design to enable IoT applications
Problem:A number of major ports in various European countries wanted to implement new 5G networks. The main requirement was to ensure perfect coverage and sufficient uplink capacity to enable the ports' IoT infrastructures connecting automated vehicles, sensors and servers. Another difficulty was potential radio interference from nearby airports or similar sources. Special consulting services were required to meet these complex requirements.
Solution:Using maps of the ports in combination with the technical specifications of the sensors and vehicles used, EXI was able to simulate the network completely remotely. By including data from the ports' surroundings, for example from airports, EXI was also able to take into account possible radio interferences and ensure the reliability of the network.
Result:The customer received detailed advice on network design, including the number and selection of sites, antenna direction, tilt and more. With EXI's support, the customer was able to build the network while ensuring that both coverage and capacity were sufficient for the IoT applications needed.
